Colour schemes

I have experimented with colour schemes and have chose those that I think go best together based on the acknowledgement of other similar indie bands digipaks. I am going to decide which one is best by asking my target audience using Facebook.

Digipak ideas

 My first idea is:

Front cover: Image of singer close up with band members on shoulders. Inspired by many other indie band who also use the band on the front in some interesting form. The band name is positioned at the top.
Inside: Simple block colour with the name of album in black. The name will be "naughty little head" as many bands call their album after a song in the album. This was inspired by the red hot chili peppers.
Back: Songs positioned on the left with same block colour as inside. Band members on the right in boxes pulling funny faces.

 My second idea is: 

Front cover: Image of band members faces merged into one with a broken glass effect. Name of band positioned on the top. This was inspired by the kings of leon and the kooks. 

Inside:  The band in performance or faces in squares. Inspired by many Indie bands

Back: Vitors face with the strange make up on used in the narrative of the video in the background. Songs listed in the centre. 

My third idea is:

Front cover: The band together and the band name positioned at the bottom. Common with Indie bands.

Inside: Eye on each page. One open with red eyes and the other closed as if winking. This creates a sense of the brand identity and personality. 

Back: Image of Vitor with the rose and song positioned to the right. 

I will get feedback on which one to use or which elements of each one to use using Facebook. This allows for a wider variation of opinions and it allows me to choose people so I can pick people of my target audience. 

Possible images to use on my Digipak

I have chosen these images from my music video to possibly go on my digipak and poster. I have chosen the image of the man holding the rose as it is eye catching and a very clear picture. It also create a sense of romance which indicates what the video is about and what the band is like in general. The image of the guitarist playing his guitar is the best image of the guitarist I could find from the video. Because of this I have decided I will take my own images also. The image of the band creates a sense of brand identity through the way they are standing and I think I could edit this image to make it different- perhaps by making them into silhouettes.

Print research- Back of digipaks

By looking other similar, Indie bands digipak backs to my own I have found what are typical features to have. They usually include an image in the background that either include the band or an image related to the narrative of the video. The colours are similar to the front of the CD or digipak. The songs are always listed down the page and there are usually between 9-12 songs. Some bands include the bands name again to promote the band further, but some just focus on the image and songs. Other features are also included such as, a barcode, the bands website, the record label and sometimes thank you's are included.

Print research- front covers

Looking at front covers of other Indie bands has helped me identify typical characteristics of a front cover. The name of the band seems to always be in a unique font that suits the band and creates a brand identity. I will apply this to my digipak by using dafont.com to find a font to suit my band. I have also noticed how the image seems to be the main focus of the front cover. They are usually images of the band in some shape or form. In many Indie band front covers they have merged the band members together. I like this idea and plan to experiment with pictures of my band members to apply this feature to my digipak front cover. The colour schemes are usually a theme of bright colours or simple grey or black and white colours, depending on the emotion of the band. My band are a very unemotional band and so I intend on using a colour scheme of perhap two or three bright colours.
